Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Keir Starmer

“I have no reason to suggest [Israel] are not” acting within the bounds of International Law

Lee Rowley, Minister for Housing, Sky News

Minister for Housing Lee Rowley told Sky News’ Kay Burley that Israel must act “within the bounds of international law”, and that he “has no reason to suggest that they are not.”

In December 2023, South Africa filed a case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) arguing that Israel is intentionally engaging in “genocidal acts” in Gaza.

The case cites a Human Rights Council report, which found that – between the 29th September 2000 and the 7th October 2023 – Israeli snipers had “intentionally shot” children, knowing them to be children.

According to the United Nations’ Security Council, killing or seriously injuring a child counts as a “Grave Violation”

The ICJ case also states that Israeli snipers “intentionally shot” health workers and journalists, “despite seeing that they were clearly marked as such.”

A great deal of tragic evidence was available to Lee Rowley which suggested that Israel is not acting “within the bounds of international law.”

We emailed Lee Rowley’s parliamentary office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.

Sky News’ Kay Burley expressed scepticism at Rowley’s statement and pointed out the death and injury toll.
