Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak

‎”I want to restore trust back into politics. I want to put integrity and honesty at the heart of how I run government and how I want to be Prime Minister”.

Rishi Sunak, Conservative Leadership Candidate, The Mirror

Facts

Rishi Sunak made his pledge to “put integrity and honesty at the heart of how I run government and how I want to be Prime Minister” while campaigning to be Tory leader and British Prime Minister. This remark explicitly his intention to distance himself from the dishonesty, sloppiness and rule-breaking of the Johnson and Truss premierships.

Within a few hours of becoming Prime Minister  he showed this pledge to be meaningless when he appointed Suella Braverman Home Secretary. Braverman had resigned from the Truss government just six days earlier after she had been guilty of a serious security lapse of sending sensitive government information through unofficial personal channels. She sent an official document from her personal email to a fellow MP, in a serious breach of ministerial rules.

Civil servants who sent  a restricted document in this way would face the sack, even potential prosecution and jail. As for Braverman, she was given her job back within the week.
