When asked by Sky News’ Wilfred Frost if “at any point a Conservative government would accept terms within the EU migration policy, or a quota of asylum seekers coming from the UK”, Home Secretary James Cleverly saying “… that’s Labour Party policies.”
As Shadow Secretary of State for the Home Department, Yvette Cooper, pointed out in an interview on the same day, Labour has been clear that it “won’t be part of the EU member state’s quota scheme. That is for member states and we are not a member state…”
While Cleverly did not use any specific figures, other Conservative MPs have frequently shared the claim that Labour would accept 100,000 asylum seekers.

James Cleverly misled Sky News’ viewers.
We emailed James Cleverly’s office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply. We also emailed the Home Office with our analysis, they responded “I’m afraid we can only respond to media outlets, so this wouldn’t be one for us.”
