Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Keir Starmer

“The IDF are very clear they are not launching attacks onto hospitals at the moment”

James Heappey, Armed Forces Minister, Sky News

Facts

In an interview with Sky News’ Kay Burley, Minister of State for the Armed Forces James Heappey asserted that “the IDF are very clear they are not launching attacks onto hospitals at the moment.”

Around 135 attacks on health facilities were documented in Gaza during November and October, according to The United Nations.

The World Health Organisation’s Dr. Harris decreed it was the highest number recorded over a one-month period.

“It seems that somehow the understanding that a hospital must [be] a safe haven, a place where people come to be treated when they are in need, has been forgotten.”

As we have discussed elsewhere, Israeli soldiers have repeatedly breached the laws of war.

Verdict

Israeli attacks have repeatedly damaged hospitals and healthcare facilities in Gaza. Since the IDF has a long record of making false and misleading statements, Heappey should not have taken its claims at face value.

We emailed James Heappey’s office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
