Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak

‎”This government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level”

PM Rishi Sunak, First Speech as Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak made his pledge to “have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level” outside Downing Street after returning from kissing hands with the King at Buckingham Palace. This remark sent out the message that he would distance himself from the dishonesty, sloppiness and rule-breaking of the Johnson and Truss premierships.

It was not the first time that Rishi Sunak had made such a pledge. He also did so while campaigning for the Tory leadership.

Within a few hours he showed this pledge to be meaningless when he appointed Suella Braverman Home Secretary. Braverman had resigned from the Truss government just six days earlier after she had been guilty of a serious security lapse of sending sensitive government information through unofficial personal channels. She sent an official document from her personal email to a fellow MP, in a serious breach of ministerial rules.

Rishi Sunak claim to govern with “integrity, professionalism and accountability’ was proven false with hours of taking office. In his first statement as Prime Minister he lied to the British public. He has subsequently misled MPs in the Commons.

We emailed Rishi Sunak’s office, the Cabinet Office and the No 10 Press Office offering them the chance to respond. The email was received by his office, but no reply.
