Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak

‎Tory MP Bob Seely: “I don’t think I did”

Bob Seely MP, BBC Newsnight

Tory MP Bob Seely was on Newsnight being questioned by presenter Victoria Derbyshire about his attack on the Privileges Committee. She said “A week last Friday on Newsnight you described the Privileges Committee as a kangaroo court”.

Bob Seely stated “I don’t think I did.” To which Derbyshire replied “You absolutely did because I watched the interview again today.”

In an interview on Newsnight, on 9 June, Bob Seely stated, “I have a lot of sympathy with some of the issues raised by this kangaroo court”

Bob Seely was misleading Newsnight viewers when he said “I don’t think I did” use the term “kangaroo court”. Note, however, his careful use of language.

We emailed Mr Seely’s parliamentary office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.

Additional NoteNewsnight presenter Victoria Derbyshire deserves praise for having challenged Tory MP Bob Seely’s misleading statement.
