Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak

‎”Well, we had 10,000 tests yesterday”

Michael Gove, Andrew Marr Show

Michael Gove’s numbers were wrong. Public Health England confirmed the following day that the number of tests done on March 28 was only 9,114. His statement may have been referring to the total capacity for tests, which had reached 10,949 a day.

On the same day, Matt Hancock also claimed on Twitter that 10,000 tests had been carried out.

Michael Gove’s incorrect statement gave the impression that more tests were taking place than in reality.
