Lies, Falsehoods and Misrepresentations from Boris Johnson to Rishi Sunak

‎”We’ve made sure that no family, no household is having to pay more than £2,500 on those energy bills”.

PM Liz Truss, CNN

Facts

Analysis by Full Fact shows that the figure of £2,500 is based on average energy usage. Some households will pay less and some will pay more.

From Full Fact: ‘In response to Full Fact’s request for comment, Downing Street directed us to Ms Truss’s 8 September speech announcing the policy in Parliament, where she said: “A typical household will pay no more than £2,500 per year for each of the next two years”.’

Verdict

Liz Truss recklessly misled voters. It is not true that the maximum energy bill households have to pay is £2,500.
